A year is almost up,
almost unbelievable time has zoomed right past.
The impossible dreams we used to speak about,
were realised together after six long months.
We took a chance and plunged right in,
swam against the tides and fought with the wind.
A roller coaster ride which we held on for dear life,
this 2010 journey was definitely worth the ups and downs.
The places we went and the folks we met,
were almost like lighthouses,
illuminating our paths and injecting our lives with hope.
Friendships forged and lessons learnt,
were carved in our hearts and delivered in our blog.
As spring finally arrives after four seasons,
we appear to return to square one once more,
but yet we know we will never ever be the same again.

People as lighthouses. Such a fantastic metaphor!

I like the style of this- Can you explain what has happened in a year? I like the way you mention being back to square one yet changed forever.

It was a year of change – I left my home and started a new chapter in my life. It was Spring when we came and now as I see the days getting longer, it felt as though I went one full cycle..

Time is zooming and everything constantly changes, yet stays the same. But I’m so glad spring is around the corner. It always makes me feel a new beginning. Wishing you a great 2011.

Such is life, we can hold on to a piece of something, yet, never have it entirely! Good thoughts!!

I like the transitory moments that encapsulate the seasons and return once more to the grace, and remembered pasts of the coming spring.
Keep it up!
And please, let me know what you think of my submission if you favor a quick read:

Yes, I love the seasons. I come from equatorial climate and I do realised that the change in weather conditions, dictating the change in lifestyles does create upheaval with human emotions and generate many random thoughts:) I will go over and take a look at your entry!

2010 was a year of love and risks for me, and I can definitely relate to this poem. Congrats on emerging from the roller-coaster ride in one piece. I know how that feels!
These lines in particular struck home:
“We took a chance and plunged right in,
swam against the tides and fought with the wind.”
